Worcester Small Claims Debt Collection Project Training/Orientation

A Lawyer For The Day limited assistance representation project in which volunteer lawyers provide legal assistance to low income defendants on the day of their small claims hearing in debt collection matters. Presenter Attorney Stephen Smith is this year’s Mass Bar Association’s Access to Justice awardee for pro bono publico. Come listen to a great speaker and learn how to get involved in the lawyer for the day project in Worcester District Court.

Volunteers for Justice/Springfield Housing Court Lawyer for the Day
Every Thursday 9 am to 1 pm;  and 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm
Location:  Western Mass Housing Court, 37 Elm Street, Springfield
A lawyer for the day project operated in conjunction with the Hampden County Bar Association that assists low income litigants on the day of their summary process court hearing. Volunteers needed for both the morning and afternoon sessions.

Eviction Defense Clinic
Every Friday from 1 pm to 4 pm
Location:  Community Legal Aid, One Monarch Place, 4th floor, Springfield.
Volunteer attorneys and law students help tenants prepare for their eviction trial by providing counsel and advice and preparation of Answers.  Tenants are scheduled for individualized appointments at 1 pm and 2:30 pm.

Worcester Probate and Family Court Lawyer for the Day Project
Every Wednesday from 9 am to 1 pm
Location:  Court Service Center, Worcester County Courthouse, Worcester, MA
Volunteer lawyers needed to provide advice and counsel to and/or assistance completing court forms in in matters arising in the probate and family court. Litigants are served on a first-come/first-served walk-in basis.

MLP Skills Seminar: Massachusetts Administrative Law
