Cory Mescon

Senior Supervising Attorney, Employment Law Unit

Cory brings her legal advocacy skills and her passion for client-centered poverty law work to CLA. Cory began her career as a public defender, first in New York City with The Legal Aid Society, and then in Hampden, Hampshire, and Franklin Counties with the Committee for Public Counsel Services. During that time, she represented clients charged with misdemeanors and felonies at all stages of their legal proceedings, from arraignment to trial. At the beginning of the pandemic, Cory joined CLA’s employment law unit, when Massachusetts’s Unemployment Insurance program was facing a crisis due to an unprecedented number of claims and appeals. Cory has also worked for CLA’s CORI/Re-entry unit, helping people with criminal records access employment and housing. Cory has co-taught a legal advocacy seminar at Western New England School of Law and has presented on various topics at MCLE. Cory is a graduate of New York University School of Law, cum laude, and of Oberlin College. She serves on the board of Hampshire County Bar Advocates and enjoys hiking, thrifting, and baking. She lives in Northampton with her partner and two daughters.
