City to host 9th Annual Community Health Resource Fair

FITCHBURG — The City of Fitchburg Health Department invites the community to attend the 9th Annual Community Health Resource Fair from 4 until 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, in O’Neil Hall at the Fitchburg Armory, 14 Wallace Ave.
The fair will feature information tables highlighting housing, shelter, elder services, medical care, youth programs, mental health, substance use disorder support, veteran services, and cultural offerings.
City departments participating include Health, Police, Schools, Veterans Services, Emergency Management, Disability Commission, Cultural Council, Fitchburg Civic Days, Fitchburg Housing Authority, and the Office of Mayor Samantha Squailia.
State agencies will also be on hand, including the Office of Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell, Department of Mental Health, Community Legal Aid, Department of Transitional Assistance, Department of Children and Families, and others. Representatives from the Office of District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. and the Fitchburg Community Justice Support Center of the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office will also be available to meet with residents.
Director of Public Health Stephen D. Curry said he looks forward to this year’s fair, where residents can meet with a wide range of local agencies. “You will find resources for any need – all in one place,” he said.
Sue Christensen, Outreach & Prevention Coordinator, added, “The annual Community Resource Fair addresses the social determinants of health by bringing together a wide variety of local services for residents.”

Additional highlights include a free raffle with items donated by participating organizations; pizza and snacks for sale by the Fitchburg Youth Baseball & Softball League (cash only); a Walk-in Flu Clinic provided by the Fitchburg Health Department and the Montachusett Public Health Network (free shots; insurance card requested if available); and Narcan training and distribution offered by the Health Department as part of the Commonwealth Naloxone Purchasing Program.
