Pro Bono Spotlight: Attorney Mary Samberg
Attorney Mary A. Samberg of West Springfield, Massachusetts is one of CLA’s longest serving volunteers. A 2021 recipient of Community Legal Aid’s (CLA) 70th Anniversary Pro Bono Award, Attorney Samberg joined the legal services pro bono panel in 1993 and has represented low-income residents of Hampden County in the area of family law for almost 30 years. Since 2014, Attorney Samberg has also been one of our most consistent volunteer conciliators in the Hampden County Probate and Family Court. In that time, she has assisted with over 60 volunteer conciliations and limited assistance representation cases in Hampden County.
Attorney Samberg’s commitment to pro bono has held steady throughout the pandemic. She quickly volunteered for the remote Hampden County Conciliation Project, a recently launched joint project with the Hampden County Bar Association, all while maintaining her own private practice.
Attorney Samberg is a solo practitioner at the Law Office of Mary A. Samberg located in West Springfield where she practices in family law with an emphasis on non-adversarial processes, such as mediation and conciliation. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Creighton University, and a Juris Doctorate from the Western New England College School of Law in 1989. She is a member of the Hampden County Bar Association, the Massachusetts Association of Guardians ad Litem, and the Massachusetts Council on Family Mediation. Attorney Samberg has served for many years as a guardian ad litem, is a mediator with the Family Resolutions Specialty Court in the Northampton Probate and Family Court and the Plummer Youth Promise Permanency Mediation Program. Attorney Samberg also serves on the appellate panels of the Committee for Public Council Services and the Hampden County Bar Association Children’s Law Project.
On behalf of Community Legal Aid, we thank Attorney Samberg for her dedication and passion to making justice real for our clients.
