WORCESTER – Carabetta Enterprises of Meriden, Connecticut, will pay $50,000 to settle a disability discrimination lawsuit brought by a tenant of its Lincoln Village affordable housing apartment complex.

The case was heard by the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination. Tenant Leanne Lambert alleged Lincoln Village failed to accommodate the needs of her disabled son, according to a news release from the organization that represented her, Community Legal Aid. 

William Stetson, Carabetta senior vice president of management operations, declined to comment on the settlement.

Community Legal Aid said Carabetta and Lincoln Village also must notify all tenants of their right to request that air conditioning fees be waived as a reasonable accommodation, provide training on housing discrimination laws for employees and give monthly reports to Community Legal Aid and the commission about units turning over to new tenants.
