Community Legal Aid (CLA) is proud to announce that Weayonnoh Nelson-Davies, Managing Attorney of CLA’s Worcester office, has been selected for the Leadership Worcester Class of 2019. Chosen from a pool of 60 candidates, Ms. Nelson-Davies joins 27 other professionals from private businesses, non-profits and public entities based throughout the Worcester area. Beginning in September, the Class of 2019 will embark on a nine-month program to learn about our community and take an active role in its betterment.
Prior to becoming Managing Attorney of CLA’s Worcester office, Ms. Nelson Davies oversaw the day-to-day operations of CLA’s Medical-Legal Partnership with UMass Memorial Health Care, which addresses the unmet health-harming legal needs of low-income families by coordinating assistance from local volunteer attorneys. Before joining CLA in 2015, she worked at Central West Justice Center as a Benefits and Medical-Legal Partnership attorney. Ms. Nelson-Davies received her law degree from Roger Williams University School of Law and earned a B.A. (magna cum laude) from Rhode Island College. Regarding her selection for Leadership Worcester, she says “I am looking forward to meeting and learning from other leaders in the Worcester community. Throughout my career, I have worked to advocate on behalf of vulnerable populations. Leadership Worcester will help me develop a critical understanding of the issues faced by residents in our community and provide me with the opportunity to collaborate with other leaders to develop policies that provide our community members with the tools they need to succeed.”
