Community Legal Aid launches Berkshire fundraising campaign

Community Legal Aid is kicking off its annual Berkshire County Access to Justice campaign.

Last year’s campaign raised $20,000; this year’s goal is $25,000.

Community Legal Aid, which has offices in North Adams and Pittsfield, provides free civil legal services to the low-income and elderly residents of the five counties of western and central Massachusetts (Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden, Hampshire, and Worcester).

Last year, the agency represented 700 Berkshire County elderly and low-income clients, impacting an estimated 1,750 residents trying to avoid homelessness, seeking safety from violence, and others fighting for life’s necessities.

Through its subsidiary, the Central West Justice Center, Community Legal Aid also helps refugees seeking humanitarian-based immigration relief.
