Community Legal Aid, a non-profit organization that provides free legal services to low-income and elderly residents of Central and Western Massachusetts, is pleased to announce that Choyce McIntosh has joined the organization’s Pro Bono team as a Pro Bono Coordinator.
A native of Chicopee, Ms. McIntosh is a 2020 graduate of Western New England University School of Law with a Master of Science in Law. She earned a BA in Legal Studies as well as a Paralegal Certificate from Elms College in 2016, and received an Associate of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Springfield Technical Community College in 2013. Prior to completing law school, she volunteered as a Lay Advocate with CLA’s Volunteers for Justice Program in Springfield Housing Court and interned with Springfield District Court’s Court Service Center. For the last 4 years, Ms. McIntosh was employed with Liberty Mutual Insurance Company as a paralegal. Ms. McIntosh is excited to join the Pro Bono team of Community Legal Aid (CLA Pro Bono) saying “I have always had an interest in public interest law and serving the community. Despite one’s income, everyone deserves adequate representation to assist with a legal matter that is impacting someone’s life.”
CLA Pro Bono is a program that recruits and supports local attorneys that accept cases representing low-income and elderly clients without charge. The program helps provide high-quality legal services to our low-income and elderly clients that would not otherwise be able to afford the services of a lawyer. CLA Pro Bono refers cases primarily in the areas of bankruptcy, family law, and the drafting of advance directives, wills, and health care proxies.
