PITTSFIELD — Judith Herberg of Richmond recently celebrated her 50-year anniversary working for Community Legal Aid and its predecessor agencies, Western Massachusetts Legal Services and Berkshire Legal Services. Herberg joined what was then known as Berkshire Legal Services in 1969 after answering a classified advertisement seeking a secretary. She had been working at General Electric.

“My parents thought I was crazy to leave the security of a good job at GE to work at this unknown organization, but I was so bored at GE I wanted to do something different,” she said in a statement.

In a news release, Community Legal Aid said it is incredibly grateful to Herberg for her dedication and commitment to the organization and its clients for the past 50 years. CLA operates full-time offices in Pittsfield, Fitchburg, Northampton, Springfield and Worcester, and has a satellite office in North Adams.
