Law School Clinical Program
Community Legal Aid partners with Western New England University School of Law in providing 2nd and 3rd year students with opportunities to apply legal theory learned in the classroom to real-life lawyering, representing actual clients in real cases.
Students participating in the Legal Services Clinic first complete a lawyering skills seminar taught by a senior CLA staff attorney. The following semester, students are assigned to one of CLA’s substantive law units (housing, family, immigration, disability, employment, elder or public benefits) where they work on cases under the supervision of a CLA staff attorney. Students who are eligible under SJC Rule 3:03 are also able to appear in court on behalf of their clients.
