Americorps
Community Legal Aid regularly hosts AmeriCorps members through AmeriCorps Legal Advocates of Massachusetts (ALA).
AmeriCorps members placed at Community Legal Aid have a unique opportunity to assist our lawyers and paralegals with all aspects of our core work: interviewing clients, engaging in outreach activities to our client communities, helping prepare cases in administrative and judicial forums, and observing hearings handled by CLA advocates. While exposed to all of CLA’s practice areas, the members focus on and specialize in one or two areas, including housing law; employment law; disability benefits and other public assistance programs; education law; issues affecting elders; and humanitarian-based immigration law. CLA allows AmeriCorps members to give back to their community while they learn and grow in a professional environment.
The AmeriCorps Legal Advocates of Massachusetts (ALA-Massachusetts) is currently seeking an AmeriCorps Fellow to serve with the Immigration team at the Central West Justice Center, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Community Legal Aid, in Springfield, MA.
