Holyoke – Special Needs Education Clinic

Special Needs Education Clinic

Community Legal Aid
With Alina Kantor Nir, AmeriCorps Education Attorney

WHAT

Community Legal Aid is organizing a free clinic for parents who have children with diagnosed or suspected special needs. This clinic will provide one-on-one information and guidance on services in the public schools systems designed to help children with special needs make progress in the general education curriculum. This can include questions regarding your child’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP), 504 Plan, and disciplinary issues and actions (suspensions, expulsions etc.).

WHY

Without quality legal advice and assistance, the world of special education law can be difficult to navigate. Misunderstandings can result in the breakdown in the relationship between the parents and the school, which negatively impacts the child’s educational outcomes.

WHERE

Holyoke Public Library, 250 Chestnut Street.

WHEN

March 23, 2015 from 9am to 12pm and 1pm to 4pm.

HOW

Please register by emailing me at anir@cla-ma.org or calling 508.425.2801.
Make sure to provide your full name and phone number.
Drop-ins are welcome (but there may be a wait time).
Make sure to bring your child’s current IEP, any recent progress reports and report cards, the last assessment reports (private assessments and school assessments), and any other relevant information.
I will spend 20-30 minutes with each parent, as time permits.
