Julia Popkin
Senior Supervising Attorney, Family Preservation Project
Julia joined Community Legal Aid in 2021 as a staff attorney in the Education Law Unit and Disability Benefits Project, before becoming the Senior Supervising Attorney of the Family Preservation Project in 2024. Julia began her legal career as a public defender representing clients in child protective proceedings, first in New York City with Brooklyn Defender Services, and then in Western Massachusetts with the Committee for Public Counsel Services. During law school, she was an Arthur Garfield Hays Civil Liberties fellow and was awarded the Ann Petluck Poses Memorial Prize for her practice as a clinical student representing parents in child protective proceedings in the Family Defense and Advanced Family Defense clinics. Julia is on the Board of Directors of the Franklin County Bar Association Community Fund.
