Special Projects

Community Legal Aid strives to ensure we are reaching populations with unmet civil legal needs. In addition to our core areas of legal expertise, we have several special projects aimed at reaching our most vulnerable neighbors in Central and Western Massachusetts.

Family Preservation Project

CLA's Family Preservation Project provides legal support to families who are involved with the Department of Children and Families, with the goal of preventing a child’s unnecessary removal from their home.

Migrant Farmworker Project

The Migrant and Seasonal Farmworker Project, housed in CLA’s affiliate the Central West Justice Center, is a statewide project that provides advocacy to farmworkers across the Commonwealth.

Asian Outreach & Advocacy Project

Assisting clients of the underserved Asian immigrant and refugee population in Worcester County.

Civil Legal Aid for Victims of Crime Initiative

Helping victims of crime with their crime-related civil legal problems.

Fair Housing Projects

CLA’s core housing work includes assisting tenants fight back against illegal housing discrimination.

Medical-Legal Partnerships

Community Legal Aid operates MLPs in coordination with UMass Memorial Health Care, Commonwealth Care Alliance, and the Northampton Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
