Pro Bono Spotlight: Attorney James F. Gregory

In his 40 years of private practice, Attorney James F. Gregory has consistently and generously dedicated his time and talent to pro bono work. A Chicopee native, he has been grateful for the opportunity to assist many low-income clients with their legal needs and make a lasting impact in his community.

Attorney Gregory graduated from Holy Name School in Chicopee and Cathedral High School in Springfield. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1972 from Tufts University. Attorney Gregory graduated from Western New England College School of Law in 1978. In law school, he participated in an internship in Elder Law at the Holyoke office of Western Massachusetts Legal Services, a predecessor of Community Legal Aid (CLA). After working as a prosecutor in the District Attorney’s office in Springfield, Attorney Gregory opened his law office in Chicopee Center in December 1980.

As a private practitioner, Attorney Gregory has found satisfaction and fulfillment in serving clients who otherwise could not afford an attorney. He has volunteered for legal services since 1985, accepting referrals in the areas of family law, wills, and advanced directives. Attorney Gregory has appreciated his professional association and friendships with CLA attorneys and staff members.  He looks forward to continuing this public service in his remaining years in practice and in future retirement.
