Pro Bono Spotlight: Attorney Kathleen A. O’Malley

Attorney Kathleen A. O’Malley currently focuses her practice of law at Raipher, P.C. on general civil litigation, concentrating in the areas of domestic relations, family law, guardianships, conservatorships and estates.

Attorney O’Malley is a graduate of the Juris Doctor/Master of Social Work joint degree program between Western New England College of Law and Springfield College School of Social Work. She earned her B.A. in English and Sociology, magna cum laude, from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.

Attorney O’Malley previously worked as a Staff Attorney and a board member for Western Massachusetts Legal Services (WMLS) from 2005-2006 where she was a zealous advocate for low income individuals in the greater Springfield area. As a member of the Family Law Unit, she represented clients in a variety of legal proceedings before the court and addressed challenging issues regarding domestic violence and abuse.

She is a co-chair of the Hampden Probate Bench Bar Committee and also serves as a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association Family Law Section Council as well as the Hampden County Bar Association Probate and Family Court Bench Bar Committee.

Attorney O’Malley joined our Pro Bono panel in 2011 where she has assisted at least 33 clients in need with LAR/Conciliation and 1 full representation at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to Attorney O’Malley:

“I believe that everyone has an obligation to donate a portion of their time to helping others. I am lucky enough to be able to do that in my role as an attorney which helps people navigate a world that is often very intimidating to them. I enjoy helping them through what I know is a difficult process that involves very important aspects of their life”.
