The Queenan Fund

The late Honorable James F. Queenan (Ret.) served on the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Massachusetts from 1986 to 2000, sitting in both Worcester and Springfield.  Before serving on the bench, he worked at the law firm of Bowditch & Dewey for many years.  In 2011, he gave Community Legal Aid a generous gift of $25,000 to create The Hon. James F. Queenan Legal Services Fund at the Greater Worcester Community Foundation, designating Community Legal Aid as the permanent beneficiary of annual grants from the fund.  Judge Queenan said:

“It continues to be very expensive to hire a lawyer, prohibitively so for the poor in matters such as eviction proceedings. Every lawyer has the responsibility to do what he or she can at this time of crisis.”

If you would like to contribute to the fund and increase its permanent impact for residents of Central and Western Massachusetts, please contact Tom Navin, Development Director, at 413-727-7115  or email tnavin@cla-ma.org.
